Red Lentin Delight


Experience the aromatic blend of spices in this comforting red lentil dish. Soft, creamy lentils infused with ginger, garlic, and a touch of heat, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.


Ingredients:

200g red lentils
1 onion, sliced
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
Finely chopped coriander leaves
4 green chilies, slit
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp salt (or as per taste)

Instructions:

Heat a pan and add oil to it. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced onion and fry until golden brown. This will add a lovely caramelized flavor to the dish.

Add ginger garlic paste to the pan and stir it for about 30 seconds, allowing the flavors to blend together.

Next, incorporate the slit green chilies and half of the finely chopped coriander leaves into the pan. Sauté them for a minute to release their aromas.

Now it's time to introduce the star ingredient, red lentils. Add them to the pan and mix everything to ensure the lentils are coated with the flavors from the spices and aromatics.

Sprinkle turmeric powder and red chili powder over the lentils. These spices will lend vibrant color and a hint of heat to the dish. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.

Pour water into the pan, ensuring the quantity is the same as the lentils. The water level should just cover the lentils, not exceed it. This will help in cooking the lentils to perfection.

Cook the lentils on high flame for 5 minutes, allowing them to absorb the flavors and soften up. This initial high heat will ensure the lentils cook evenly and quickly.

Reduce the flame to low and add salt to taste. Give it a final mix and let it simmer for another 5 minutes or until the water evaporates, resulting in a thick and flavorful lentil dish.

To add a fresh touch, garnish the dish with the remaining finely chopped coriander leaves on top. The vibrant green color of the coriander will not only make the dish visually appealing but also enhance its taste.

Serve this delicious red lentil dish as a comforting main course or as a side dish with steamed rice or flatbread. It's a nutritious and flavorful meal that will surely satisfy your taste buds!
